Our farm recently became a century farm. We feel very blessed to be able to farm the land that Jonathan’s grandfather purchased in 1913. We have 1,100 acres of organic corn, soybeans and wheat. We have a three year rotation, so the acres are evenly split between the three crops. We also finish about 7,000 pigs a year for a neighbor. We use the manure from our pig barns as our source of fertilizer for our crops.

We may not all farm exactly the same way, but there are as many similarities as there are differences. We’ve found that it’s all about getting along and looking at the big picture that we have in common: the need to provide safe food for all of our families regardless if it comes from a conventional or organic farm.
My husband, Jonathan, and I work together with our two full time employees. I run the field cultivator in the spring, assist with running the inventory program for our seed business, and help out where needed. In the summer, I take photos and videos of our crop year to share to reach those who are unfamiliar with organic farming. I am also traveling quiet a bit for the boards I am on. In the fall, I run the combine for most of corn harvest, and a little bit of soybean harvest. I also run the chisel plow, disk, and help out wherever needed. As with most farms, the schedule changes with the weather and the day!
