Along with one part-time worker, the 4 of us farm on the western edge of Hennepin County; we are 1 of the 5 remaining dairy farms in our county. We proudly milk 120 holstein cows at this time, keeping our herd at a manageable # for the 5 of us and our urban-edge location. We milk in a swing 12 parlor and the dairy herd are housed in a free-stall barn. Calves, heifers, and dry cows are also housed here on our families' land. They get excited when they hear me bringing the leftover produce from the foodshelf in my little red wagon a few times a week (it's a highlight for me too!). We also raise corn and soybean cash crops along with crops to use for our cattle's feed. We enjoy hosting tours, school visits, posting on social media, answering questions, telling others the facts about farming, and sharing our dairy pride with the public!
