Mother, Educator, & Flower Farmer

My husband and I farm with his parents raising dairy and beef cattle. Alongside the dairy, we also grow corn and soybeans. I have a cut flower farm and floral business (Lady Slipper Flowers) and grow roughly an acre of cut flowers during the growing season. On the farm, I assist with daily chores as needed, bookkeeping, and running countless errands. I work full time off the farm as a Farm Business Management instructor for South Central College.

Why is sharing information about agriculture and farming important to you?

We are a normal family, just like any other. We work really hard to provide safe, nutritious, and quality products to consumers. We love what we do and want to share our story with others.

Tell us a quick story from the farm.

My husband’s family has been farming outside of Saint Peter, MN since 1875. Our family strives to keep the farm legacy alive by educating our community about current farm practices. An annual farm tour for local kindergarten classes is a yearly highlight and has been around for the past 30 years. We hope to continue to show people where their food comes from and how it is raised.
