When harvest gets rolling, there’s not a lot of time for sitting down at the kitchen table.
For Sara, that’s especially true. She and her husband both work full-time jobs off the farm, and they’re also raising two kids. When harvest season arrives, their days get even longer and time spent at home gets even shorter. They go from the office to the field and repeat it all again the next day. Sometimes, dinner means eating wherever the work takes you.
That’s where a good field meal comes in.
Sara’s Taco Bake is the kind of recipe that works perfectly for those busy seasons of life. It is very easy to prepare, travels well, and is hearty enough to keep a hungry family going through a long day. It’s also the kind of meal that kids are likely to get excited about, which is always a bonus when you’re feeding a family on the go.
Meals during harvest aren’t necessarily about making something elaborate. They’re about making sure her family gets a warm, filling meal, even when everyone is coming and going and there’s barely enough time to catch your breath.
Sometimes, the best harvest meal is simply one that everyone can eat together, wherever you happen to be.
