Amy Amberg

Farmer, wife and mother

I’ve been involved with Agriculture my entire life, I spent my early years on a dairy farm, where I learned the value of hard work and importance of animal care. I’ve also had experience working in chicken barns, running pea combines, working in seed corn research, soybean seed production, and sugar beets. I’m currently working “off the farm” as a Sales Support Coordinator for a Seed Corn Genetics company.

Why is sharing information about agriculture and farming important to you?

I am passionate about agriculture and feel that, as a society, we are too far removed from how our food is raised. I feel that sharing and educating people about our experience is the best way to teach others about what we do. Agriculture has become so sensationalized at times and we need to help people understand where their food is coming from and that it is safe.

Tell us a quick story from the farm.

My husband and I farm near Bird Island, MN. Our main focus is Custom Finishing Hogs, but our two teen boys keep bringing every type of poultry you could imagine home! The boys are very involved in the day to day care of the animals and are involved in 4h, mostly showing poultry. We also raise corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa.
