Gail Donkers
Family farmer and sheep lover
We farm with our family and grow corn, soybeans and alfalfa, and raise cattle, pigs and sheep. I also work off the farm for Minnesota Farmers Union. My pet project is raising a miniature heritage breed of sheep called Babydoll Southdowns – they are adorable!
Do you farm with family?
Yes. We farm with my husband’s brother and father, and our oldest son.
What are your hobbies?
Baking, Cooking, Machine Embracing, Travel, Movies, Reading, and Showing Sheep
Why is sharing information about agriculture and farming important to you?
There is so much misinformation circulated, especially on social media, about farms and the food that farmers produce. This drives me crazy!
Tell us a quick story from the farm.
My pet project is raising a miniature heritage breed of sheep called Babydoll Southdowns. The sheep are adorable and everyone loves them. I sell breeding stock across the U.S. and into Canada. I bring them to different events around our area ranging from from live Nativity to the Ronald McDonald House for National Hug a Sheep day.
