We are a first generation dairy farm. We fondly call it a 4-H project that got out of hand. Twenty-three years ago we expanded from a 40 cow herd to 300 and added 100 more 2 years later. We see about 500 people/year here on tours and really enjoy talking to people about our favorite animals: dairy cows.
I am also a member of the Midwest Dairy Association and I am a board member on Midwest Dairy Association’s MN Division and Corporate Board.
Yes. Our oldest daughter is a full time MN Dept. of Agriculture employee who spends her weekends taking care of cows with us. Her goal is to return home permanently in the future. Our youngest daughter is in veterinary school and she, too, comes home when she can to help.

It's the most cliché reason in the world but for sure the most true: If we don't tell our story, someone else is more than happy to do it for us. If we, as farmers, do a better job of working to understand what people are thinking we can engage in a positive and productive way about agriculture.
We are a first generation dairy farm located 40 miles south of Minneapolis. My husband and I have two wonderful adult daughters, a son-in-law and an almost son-in-law, also wonderful. We grow corn and alfalfa hay and produce enough to feed the cows. Most days, my husband spends time out in the barn with the cows and in the shop making repairs. I spend my morning milking cows and afternoons are dedicated to book work.
