Family farmer and teacher
We grow corn and soybeans and raise pigs on our farm. I enjoy teaching others about agriculture and all that it entails and I am member of several organizations including the National Corn Growers Association, 4-H and National Pork Producers Association. Before joining the operation full time, I used to be a special education teacher, and I still substitute teach from time to time!
Do you farm with family?
Yes.
What are your hobbies?
Arts and Crafts
Why is sharing information about agriculture and farming important to you?
I enjoy teaching others about agriculture and all that it entails. Educating people about where their food comes from and how it is raised is very important to me.
Tell us a quick story from the farm.
Our family was able to get into agriculture by starting in hogs. We bought a farrow to finish hog operation from a retiring farmer and raised pigs, which allowed us to slowly enter the crop side of agriculture. A few years ago, we sold our hog operation to a neighbor who wanted to get into farming- giving him the start we got years ago.
