Farmers take tremendous pride in the food they raise. After months of dedication, care, and hard work, it’s an honor for them to enjoy the very products they produce at home. Knowing where your food comes from is meaningful, but for these farmers, it’s even more personal. Presenting our first Recipe Roundup: Farm to Fork.
In this collection, A.J., Jocelyn, Brittany, and Sarah are sharing some of their favorite recipes featuring ingredients straight from their own farms. Along the way, they also offer a glimpse into how those ingredients are raised with purpose and passion.
Thank you for your interest in food & farming- it’s something we feel passionate about. Have questions? We’d love to hear from you! Email us at hello@commongroundminnesota.com and we’ll get right back to you..

Beef Stroganoff
A.J. Popp
A.J. likes to make this on winter days when her family needs to work cattle. It is something that can be mixed up early and be piping hot after being out in the freezing cold all day. And what a full circle moment- to be able to consume the literal fruits of your labor, farm to fork style.
Berry Dairy Salad
Brittany Johnson
The best thing about this recipe is that it is delicious. It is so good. The second-best thing is that it features real dairy products and real fruit. Brittany, a quality assurance supervisor and licensed cheese grader, knows a thing or two about real dairy products. From farm to fork (or glass or spoon!) dairy gets turned into deliciousness.

Pork Fried Rice
Jocelyn Schlichting
One of the most interesting things about farms is how different they are. On Jocelyn’s family farm, for example, they raise pigs as well as potatoes, corn, kidney beans, rye and sweet peas. Because of that diversity, Jocelyn had plenty of options when she was asked to share a recipe featuring something grown on her farm. So the fact that she chose this pork fried rice recipe tells you just how special it is!
Sweet Chili Beef and Green Bean Bowl
Sarah Kern
The last place Sarah ever thought she would end up is back on the farm- but after leaving for college, she realized how much she missed the life she grew up in. This recipe includes a video that describes the process of this dish, farm to fork style.
